Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner, and if you’re like me—a busy mom with a first grader—you’re probably thinking, “How in the world can I show my child’s teacher just how amazing they are?” It’s easy to feel the pressure of making a grand gesture but trust me, it’s the thought and the personal touch that counts the most.

I put my thinking cap on, PTO mom-style, to come up with some creative teacher appreciation week ideas that will make any educator feel like the superheroes they truly are.

Whether you’re rallying your social organization for a week of surprise goodies or brainstorming gifts for teachers that go beyond a nice pen, I’ve got you covered.

Because let’s be honest—teachers are the backbone of our communities, and a little boost in teacher morale can go a long way, right? From heartfelt notes to themed surprises, there are so many simple yet impactful ways to show big gratitude.

Let’s get into it.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Here are some simple, fun, and totally doable ideas to show your child’s teacher how much they’re appreciated.

1. Themed Days = Easy & Creative Wins

Why not spice things up with a themed week? It’s a fun way to get kids involved and make Teacher Appreciation Week memorable.

  • Monday: “Mug Mania” – Have your child decorate a personalized coffee mug for their teacher. (Bonus points if you add a little gift card for coffee or tea inside!) The kids can create a colorful design or write a sweet note.
  • Tuesday: “Taco ‘Bout a Great Teacher!” – If your school allows food treats, you can send in a taco bar or taco-themed snacks for the teacher and class. For Taco-themed teacher gifts, think tacos or nachos, salsa and queso dip, planted-based crumbles for “meat”, and some ground proteins.
  • Wednesday: “Gift Basket Day” – Put together a gift basket or purchase a relatively inexpensive one.  Add a few goodies they can enjoy in the classroom or at home.
  • Thursday: “Thank You Notes” – Have each child write a short thank-you note to their teacher. They can keep it simple like, “Thank you for helping me learn!” or get more creative with a drawing. Teachers love these handwritten notes because they come straight from the heart.
  • Friday: “Fruit and Flowers” – This one’s simple but sweet. Send in a bouquet of fresh flowers or a basket of fruit for the teacher to enjoy. Flowers are a great way to brighten up the classroom at the end of a busy week.

2. The Power of Personalized Gifts

If you’re not in the mood for crafting, don’t worry. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that come straight from the kid’s heart. My first grader, for example, has been really into drawing lately, so we’re thinking of framing a cute, “Thank you for teaching me” picture he’s made. Personal touches like this will always stand out more than any generic gift.

3. All About My Teacher Printables: An Easy Win!

Here’s one of my absolute favorite ways to show appreciation without breaking the bank: the “All About My Teacher” printable. These are fun, kid-friendly worksheets where kids can fill in blanks like, “My favorite thing about you is…” or “It made me laugh when you…” It’s a lighthearted way for your child to express what makes their teacher special—and the teacher gets a truly one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Not only is this printable a creative outlet for your child, but it’s a total win for parents, too. It’s quick to print, super easy for the kids to fill out, and gives the teacher a sweet personalized memento.  And seeing their own name listed as the “best teacher” in your child’s eyes? Priceless!
