There are many things we need to think about after birth. From the supplies, we need for ourselves and everything we need for the baby. Part of a good recovery for new moms is having solid supportive clothing to care for your newborn comfortably.

So if you are wondering if compression leggings help postpartum, they do so add them to your list of postpartum must-haves. Postpartum compression leggings not only are for the fourth trimester but can be worn well beyond the postpartum phase.

You’ll need clothing that is nice and snug while you recover and once your little one is on the move. A pair that provides the best support as you move into your postpartum journey.

For starters, postpartum leggings can truly be whatever leggings you find to provide the most support and comfort. They don’t have to be labeled or designed specifically for postpartum or even made by a company that specializes in maternity clothing.

You can find high-waist supportive and compression leggings just about anywhere.

What You Should Consider When Purchasing Post Pregnancy Leggings:

Comfort- The best pair of leggings post-pregnancy are the ones that make you feel like you have nothing on. The ones that move with you instead of moving when you move, hence rolling down when you bend over.

Velvety soft leggings that won’t make you itch. You should feel comfortable while wearing them. So much so that they become your go-to pair.

Fabric- Is the fabric stretchy? Will it stretch and adjust as your body changes during the postpartum period and beyond? You’ll need them to have a little give.

The thickness of the leggings. Some of you may not care for a pair of see-through leggings, which is completely understandable. It does not mean they are of poor quality, though.

With that being said, the thicker, the better. With all the bending and moving around, we do as new moms, it’s important to have a breathable thick, and stretchy pair of leggings.

Can the leggings you choose go into the washer machine and hold up? Wash after wash will they remain the same leggings you originally purchased?

Multi-Purpose- A good pair of postpartum support leggings can sometimes be pretty pricey. So if you are going to spend the money, make sure they are versatile.

Consider purchasing a pair of postpartum leggings that can also function as a pair of workout leggings, leggings to run errands in, or wear as a travel outfit.

Compression- The point of postpartum compression leggings is to provide gentle compression to help support your muscles as they heal.

If you don’t want a pair of compression leggings, that’s totally fine. Purchase a normal pair. Your comfort is of most importance after birth.

High-Waist Leggings- Search for a pair that is high-waist, especially if you delivered by c-section. High-waist leggings will help hold things up.

Length- Length comes down to what you prefer. Full-length or cropped leggings.

Cost- Sometimes it can be difficult justifying the cost of items you plan to wear temporarily.  If you can, purchase leggings you can wear more than once.
