11 Things To Do In Las Vegas: On & Off The Strip

In Las Vegas at Speedvegas

We have been to Las Vegas many times, but each time is always better than the last.  Here are 11 things to do in Las Vegas: On & off the strip. We find more things to get into and explore.  This time around Las Vegas was apart of our Southwestern trip.  We spent some time on the strip and explored Vegas off the strip.

Las Vegas Weather

The best time to go is March to May and September thru November. We went the end of June.  You can read about how we go about choosing when we travel here.

Las Vegas Hotel

There are a ton of options to choose from. One great option is the Wynn Las Vegas.  It is a beautiful luxury hotel with lots of options to keep you entertained.  The rooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious.  It is also a great option if you want to stay on the Las Vegas strip.

A few restaurant favorites

Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas

You cannot go to Vegas without having an experience at the Eiffel Tower.  It is French influenced with remarkable service.  I would highly recommend reservations.  The bonus is the restaurant overlooks the Bellagio Fountain so you will have an opportunity to enjoy an amazing dinner while watching the Fountain display.  Did I say the food was amazing? Every bite was incredible.

The Buffet at Wynn

If you are staying here The Buffet is a great choice for weekend brunch.  There is a plethora of options to choose from and everything we tried was delicious.

Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.  The food and service is always stellar.  It’s one of our favorites. Mesa Grill is one of Chef Bobby Flay’s restaurants, so it’s a good variety of southwestern cooking. It is a popular one so be sure to make reservations.

Las Vegas Shows

There is no way you can go to Vegas and not catch a show!  Any kind, Circque du soleil, a music show or even a magic show because there are plenty of those too.

Michael Jackson, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. I was not exactly sure what to expect because there are not many that can pull off a Michael Jackson performance.  The performers did not disappoint!  Every aspect of this show was brilliant.

Zumanity, New York New York Hotel and Casino. Adults only and do not be surprised if you are pulled on stage.  You have been warned! lol

O, Bellagio Hotel and Casino. Think acrobats and swimmers all beautifully synchronized in water.  MIND-BLOWING.

Blue Man Group, Luxor Hotel & Casino. Good show.

The Fountains of Bellagio, Bellagio Hotel and Casino.  For starters it is a free outside show!  There’s hundreds or maybe even a 1,000 fountains which step in sync with one another to any song and perform. Try to catch one if you can.

Las Vegas Colorful Rocks

Seven Magic Mountains

When planning our trip, I discovered its existence and knew I needed to go and explore when in Las Vegas.  It gives you the opportunity to break things up and have a change of scenery away from the strip and casinos. Seven Magic Mountains is a cool magical spot located in the middle of the desert.

Seven Magic Mountains Cost

It is a free, open to the public, outside art exhibit created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. The exhibit is 7 towers of colorful stacked rocks.  The installation opened May 11, 2016 and was scheduled to remain open for two years.  Due to the overwhelming popularity of the display it is scheduled to remain open until the end of 2021!  So, you still have plenty of time to visit.

Getting there

The installation is located 10 miles South of Las Vegas.  It is in the middle of the dessert (masks are currently required) therefore its hot and dry in this area.  There are no restrooms or stores within walking distance of the installation.

As a matter of fact, the only way to get there is by car.  We took a taxi, which was a bit pricey, but the driver was nice enough to wait for us while we explored without running the meter.  We did not rent a car until we arrived in Arizona.  If you do rent a car there is a parking lot available for people coming to view the exhibit.

Upon entering there is an informational stand which tells you about the artist and exhibit.  There is no guide on site, and you do not need one to go.  Do not waste your money on a guided tour!

SpeedVegas Racetrack

While I am a lover of travel Ty is a lover of cars.  I wanted to surprise him with an activity that was solely for him and something I knew he would love. I discovered SPEEDVEGAS while planning out our itinerary.  SPEEDVEGAS is every car lovers dream!  They have a lot full of exotic cars and a racetrack.

Transportation

They provide complimentary round trip transportation from most strip hotels.  We had no problem being transported to and from the Wynn.  You may arrive and not be able to drive the car you originally picked.  This happened to us, but the employees made up for it.

There is an instructional and safety class you must take prior to getting on the racetrack and there is also a viewing terrace for friends and family.

Ty drove the Audi R8 V10 and the Porsche GT3.  His adrenaline was pumping, and he walked out shaking just like they said he would. Haha His exact quote, “It was a dream come true and an adrenaline rush.  It is not everyday you get a chance to drive two cars equaling over $200k and at 100 plus mph.”

If you wanted to add 7 Magic Mountains and SPEEDVEGAS together you could do that.  They are not far from one another.

Tip: Be sure to check on covid-19 policy and procedure for each venue.

Have you been to Las Vegas?  Did you go beyond the Vegas strip?
